Title: Our Trip to Crawford Lake!

Our kids had an amazing time at Crawford lake and were able to learn a lot of cool things about the Iroquois way of life. We had a really fun time visiting the longhouses of both the Deer and Turtle clans. There we so many cool things that we got to see and touch inside of them like pelts, furs, toys, traditional clothing and tools. We were able to learn about how the Iroquois would build good fires and even got to play with some of the traditional toys! The kids also had the chance to taste traditional corn bread and maple syrup and see how it was traditionally made. Of course, how can we forget that delicious maple taffy!Fun facts: Did you know that maple syrup has more calcium and magnesium in it then milk? Or did you know that the Iroquois used ashes from their fire as a form of baking soda when they made corn bread? We didn’t but we do now!
